Spartel Private Boat Charter
Cap Spartel, the Caves of Hercules and the point where two seas meet
The experience
Spartel is the charter for people who came to Tangier for the view. She runs west along the cliffs to the lighthouse, past the mouth of the Caves of Hercules, out to the invisible seam where the Atlantic pushes into the Mediterranean and the water changes colour in front of you.
The coastline here is theatre: caves at the waterline, pine forest on the ridge, empty crescents of sand between headlands that no road reaches. Your skipper knows exactly where to hold the boat so the light is behind you and the lighthouse is over your shoulder.
Swim off the back, float in water so clear you can count the stones on the bottom, then dry off with tea on deck while the boat drifts home into a Tangier sunset.

How the day unfolds
- 1
Meet your skipper
You are welcomed on the pontoon 15 minutes before departure, introduced to your skipper and shown around the boat.
- 2
Board your private boat
Store your bags, settle onto the sun deck and let the crew run through safety in plain English, French or Arabic.
- 3
Leave the marina
Slip past the breakwater and watch the white city rise behind you as the open water opens up ahead.
- 4
Cruise the coastline
Follow the cliffs west toward Cap Spartel, with the Atlantic on one side and the Strait of Gibraltar on the other.
- 5
Photo stops
The skipper holds position at the best angles — the lighthouse, the caves, the point where two seas meet.
- 6
Hidden beaches
Anchor off coves that can only be reached from the water, far from the crowds on the city beaches.
- 7
Swimming stop
Ladder down into clear, calm water. Take as long as you like — the boat is yours.
- 8
Snorkelling & floating
Masks, the floating mat and the inflatable come out. This is the part children never forget.
- 9
Relax on deck
Dry off in the sun, put your music on and enjoy refreshments while the coastline drifts past.

Return to the marina
A slow golden cruise home, back alongside with time to spare for dinner in town.
