About Tangier

A Moroccan port on the Strait of Gibraltar

Tangier has been a strategic gateway between Africa and Europe since Phoenician times. Its whitewashed hillside medina is home to the Dar el Makhzen, a palace of the sultans now turned museum, and the American Legation Museum — an 1821 Moorish-style consulate documenting two centuries of U.S.–Moroccan diplomacy.

— Frequently asked

Planning a trip to Tangier?

The questions we answer every week on WhatsApp — here in one place.

Is Tangier worth visiting?

+

Yes — Tangier blends Moroccan, Andalusian and international cultures in one walkable coastal city. It's the easiest place in Morocco to reach from Europe (1-hour ferry from Tarifa, direct flights from London, Paris and Madrid) and combines a medieval medina, Atlantic and Mediterranean beaches, and world-class food.

How many days do you need in Tangier?

+

2–3 days covers the Kasbah, medina, Cap Spartel and the Caves of Hercules. Add a 4th day for a Chefchaouen day trip, a 5th for beaches at Achakar or Cap Malabata.

Is Tangier safe for tourists?

+

Tangier is one of the safest cities in Morocco for visitors. Violent crime against tourists is very rare; the main issues are pushy hustlers around the port and petty pickpocketing in crowded medina alleys. Use registered taxis and licensed guides.

What's the best time to visit?

+

April–June and September–October: warm, dry and less crowded than July/August. Winters are mild (14–18°C) but rainier.

How do I get from the airport to the city?

+

Ibn Battouta Airport (TNG) is 15 km from central Tangier. A pre-booked private transfer costs €20–30 and takes 20 minutes. Message us on WhatsApp and we'll arrange it.

Do you charge to book hotels or tours for me?

+

No. We're paid by our partners, so booking through our concierge costs the same as booking direct — often less, because we get local rates.
